If you have court proceeding at this location and are given the option to have your case heard by a commissioner instead of a judge, I strongly advise against it. You have the right to have your case heard by a judge.

I had a negative experience with Commissioner Christine Copeland. I chose not to reschedule my case and allowed her to preside over it. However, I found her to be unresponsive and lacking in active listening skills. Despite presenting clear supporting evidence in my case against a Caucasian man, she seemed to favor his side.

I have serious concerns about her professionalism and impartiality. Additionally, she mishandled my medical information by including my diagnosis in a court document, despite my request to keep it private. She dismissed my concerns about privacy, stating the court is not bound by HIPAA protections. I urge you to be cautious and consider the implications of allowing Commissioner Copeland to hear your case. She does not respect privacy, does not listen attentively, and has displayed biased behavior.

Accompanied my cousin to take care of her business in the probate dept. We arrived around 830 am and the line went out the door of the dept, maybe 6-8 people ahead of us.

We were out of the building by 945 am, which wasn't too painful.

Ryan, the clerk who helped us, wasn't feeling well but he was still very helpful, friendly, and informative.

Parking is available on the side streets and the meters take credit cards too. Just make sure to lock your doors and place belongings in the trunk.

This is the main courthouse for Santa Clara County, located on the edge of downtown San Jose. The block included the old courthouse, downtown courthouse, and across the street is the new Family Court. I am an attorney that regularly attends hearings here. It is a reasonable courthouse staffed by good people, but it does suffer from being understaffed in the records and filing windows. This means there can sometimes be a long wait.

The “old courthouse’” is located in the heart of downtown San José. The picture is taken from the back . This courthouse a beautiful building with tall ceilings and magnificent chandeliers. If you ever have an opportunity to visit please do so. It’s a hidden gem & a landmark ❤️

Commissioner Christine Copeland is a complete joke. She doesn’t believe police reports, certified appraisals, receipts. Nothing can be proven to her because it seems she made up her mind subjectively. Can’t believe how such incompetent, self righteous and arrogant people can get into the position of a judge. No justice. Broken system. Wasted time and money, and public resources. These people are highly paid I suppose. Any system to monitor/supervise/correct their behavior?

Don’t know about other judge in this court, but if you have a case with Christine Copeland, good luck.

I received a speeding ticket in May, and it took almost five months for it to post. Was not able to reach anyone through phone calls or other means, terrible systems and now my traffic school 18month period is pushed out another 5 months from the ticket date. Please use my ticket money to hire another employee or IT person to make a system that actually works (not holding my breath)
