Records office staff was unprofessional and the lead manager was rude and extremely arrogant. Not only to us but the two guys that walked in moments before we proceeded to pay for our paperwork. We were in there for 4+ hours doing important research on their computer for our custody case to get more visitation with our daughter and the lady behind the counter who saw us working hard in there all the hours leading up until closing didn’t tell us that there was a strict cutoff time for printing at 3:30. There’s no signage anywhere upon entering the records office nor on the walls where the computers are. When we asked to pay for our printed paperwork at 3:40pm, she told us we had to come back the next day to pick up the paperwork. We were shocked because they just made an exception for the two guys who just walked into the building print paperwork after the “3:30 cut off time”. She then proceeded to roll her eyes and give us attitude telling us to talk to her “lead manager” who also proceeded to give us major attitude. We were so polite and calm and we’re very shocked with their lack of professionalism. They really should put signs up about the hard cut off time at 3:30. We commuted over 2 hours to print this paperwork and the gentleman before us commuted from SF. Please post signage of the “3:30 printing cut off time”

This place is a black hole of time and energy. For every one visit I have to come back two more times. The website has false information and of course don't tell you they are cash only. They are not staffed to meet demands of the public. The judicial staff is disrespectful and so high on their own ego that they don't provide status updates, or reasonable explanations. If you tell me something is going to be done by a certain date, I expect that to be true. Instead I have to come back two, six, eight months later to deal with the same issue. The excuse I get for the late judgement? That people are on vacation. Must be nice.
There are good, hardworking citizens who come here and are met with unsatisfactory customer service. If you want to be treated rudely, inhumane, and lied to this is the perfect spot. Conflicting guidance, sarcasm, and deceit. Good for nothing, sorry example of our justice system.

They make you fill out information on a tablet outside the front doors of the courthouse where you can see probably hundreds of people's fingerprints all over the tablet and we're supposed to be under a covid-19 safety. This doesn't seem too safe. Their Court filing fees are outrageous. California is nothing but a scam to take your money and get you in the system. Two ? down

Wow ! Monterey judge culver just made decisions without know the truth . Made wrong decision. Shouldn’t be sitting at judge position . Anyone can bring wrong / false witness and evidence But without any paperwork evidence and knowing the truth she just made a wrong decision. Don’t even expect courts making wrong decisions.

Super persistent when you owe them something. Completely unreachable when they OWE YOU something. Bunch of bumbling idiots who assume everybody who calls has done something wrong. 3 trips later I'm still getting calls saying you haven't been paid even when I've delivered the confirmation and withdraw receipts. Ending my support of the Monterey/Seaside/Marina/Sand City police department, ZERO donations from me from now own.

this place sucks! I got a traffic ticket in Jan and paid online right away in Feb (see the picture for approval). There was nothing followed up until today (7/16), I got a phone call asking me to pay double the fee as they claimed the payment was never received! First of all, if their system never works properly and bounces back payment, it is their problem, and they need to have an efficient way to inform the payers right away. Secondly, this is an honest error that happened for any reasons out of my control, I do not understand why I have been punished for paying a lot more. Since I have commit to pay the fee right away, and would that explain? I have no place to complain, and have to pay a lot extra, and now have to deal with my insurance increase etc... Horrible system. Do not even know where to discuss my case...They ask you to use the power of the law, but do they really serve the justice?

My right for due process was intentionally denied in this court. There are multiple people, officers of the court, who have engaged in unethical practices and they should be held accountable. I have tried, for years, to get someone to hear the truth about some (not all) of the unethical lawyers, and one Judge specifically in my case in the Monterey Superior Court and they cover for them.

In 2016 I lived in another state. I was “served” a packet of random documents that did not include anything about a time or place for a hearing. Then the opposing council had the hearing moved up without notifying me. I did not have a lawyer at that time. The court never updated this change on the public portal and everyone I spoke to on the phone at that court only knew that I had a hearing for September 2, 2016. On August 12, 2016, the judge and opposing council proceeded to have a hearing with out me being there and made decisions without my concent. Even worse, after this hearing, the opposing council CLAIMED that I had been sanctioned 1000 dollars.

On Friday September 2, 2016, I showed up to court on the hearing date (still scheduled on the docket). In fact, from August 29 to September 1, 2016, I went inside the court and asked any and everyone in an official capacity if I still had a hearing for September 2, 2016, they all said YES. On September 2, 2016 in court, the interim judge called my case. I spoke to the interim judge about my concerns and the clerk quickly shouted out that I had been served. NOT TRUE! The judged laughed at my suggestion that my rights had been violated and refused to hear anything I had to say. She suggested that I go to the self-help center and figure out what I needed to do.

In 2017, I retrieved the transcript from the August 12, 2015 hearing and neither the judge nor the opposing council said anything about sanctioning me. I brought this to the attention of my FORMER lawyer because I was being accused of contempt for lack of payment of said sanction set for February 2018. I asked my former lawyer why should I pay for a sanction when I was never sanctioned? Legit question right! So, instead of fighting to get to the truth, the opposing council and my lawyer were able to amend the transcript and the order to add the missing conversation. THIS IS UNETHICAL! This is ILLEGAL! and it seems to only happen to black and brown people in this crooked Justice system! This court ruins lives!

The lady at the desk told me to put a mask on before she would speak to me the only person in the building… then after waiting 35 mins she couldn’t answer any of my questions and attorneys where not even there… why does the judge refer u to a person who can’t help at all a waste of time and gas… this lady handed me a paper knowing that the place was closed until after the 1 of the year just so I would leave lol what a joke… our tax paying at its finest
