In July 2024, we embarked on the sale of our family home on behalf of our elderly parents. Our parents bought this house in 1976, a few years after their arrival in Canada. Although my siblings and I have not lived in the house for many years, we have grown up in the house and have very fond memories of our family home and the neighbourhood.

It has been over 20 years since we worked with a realtor. We walked and drove around the neighbourhood and noticed Freeman Real Estate Ltd. is very popular in the area. We were looking for a realtor with experience in and knowledge of the Annex. A search on the web confirmed Freeman Real Estate’s positive reputation. We were confident Freeman would be a good fit for us.

Daniel Freeman met us in person the day after our initial call. We had a walk through in the house where Daniel provided us with his observations. We had a video call where Daniel gave us recommendations, options to complete some minor changes and an estimated value of the house. He provided strategic options in the current market. In addition, he explained all the fees associated with the sale of a home. After some consideration, my siblings and I agreed to use Freeman as our broker. Our goal was to sell the house quickly and without any upgrades.

Daniel hosted a few more video calls with us. Throughout every step of the journey, he and his team kept us informed with market updates and the progress from the showings. We were impressed with the level of service. All legal agreements and pricing were reviewed in detail. Our interactions were seamless and informative. We knew we were working with a trusted and experienced team.

My family waited anxiously in this current depressed market. We had an offer below our asking price. While working on the response to the bid with Daniel, another potential buyer expressed interest in the house but was unable to meet in person. We needed to respond to the first offer by midnight. Daniel suggested a solution and completed a virtual walk through. The virtual viewing resulted in an additional bid. Daniel’s fast thinking demonstrated his commitment to us and his focus on getting us the highest price. We were grateful for Daniel’s professionalism. The entire process from the listing to the sale took 26 days.

Daniel also connected us to a real estate lawyer for the closing. The closing was a breeze.
