Evan surprised us and came down Wednesday night!! He was traveling for work last week and joined us for a restaurant in Cape May we had yet to try. French restaurant called Provence. Lots of things to love about Provence. Our seating in the conservatory was terrific; great ambiance. Service was superb with Natalie and team! Food was top notch with a few misses. My lobster ravioli appetizer was excellent (sorry I forgot to take a picture), so we were off to the races! I opted for the Chilean Sea Bass with risotto special. It was very good, although I thought the fish was slightly under seasoned. I finished with a chocolate torte that I should have asked about. I was expecting a flourless Sacher torte, but it was something else entirely. Little too sweet for me. Evan said his French Onion Soup needed another hour or so to fully cook the onions and render some deeper flavor. Ginny loved her short rib entree (I thought it was ever so slightly under seasoned) and her beignet tree! Parking on a busy night could be tricky!! Overall, worth another try!

Last year we ate here and they blew our minds. Everything was beautifully plated and the flavors and ingredients were second to none. The service was equally fantastic.

This year we decided to return for our anniversary and I'm sad to say this was our last visit to Provence. What a disappointment!

We started with a $9 bread basket and the inside of the bread was frozen! We told our server and they brought us a new one at the same time as our appetizers. They really should have taken off the bill. We didn't even eat it.

The appetizers (mussels, lobster ravioli, and french onion soup with mushrooms) were very good.

The entrees were awful. The trout was really salmon (I know the difference although it can be subtle). It was overcooked and served with overcooked cous cous and frozen, shriveled peas. The short rib was over salted and topped with banana pepper slices straight from the jar and some kind of salty chips over a parsnip, mashed potato yuckiness.

Also, we noted on the reservation that this was a birthday and anniversary dinner and it wasn't even acknowledged by the staff.

It's evident the "chef" was not the same as our last visit. The food and the service were below average at best. It's a shame.

This was an amazing experience of culinary sensations. Every dish had an astounding sauce. The presentation of each dish was a work of art, a wonder to behold. We ate outside in the huge romantic deck bespectacled with overhead lights and triangular awnings. The waiter was incredible attentive and gave a great description of each dish. The indoor dining area was elegant and quiet. A superb experience. Will return again and again. Great gluten free options. Helpful with food allergies. Elegant bed and breakfast named Peninsula! Beautiful heated private pool hidden in yard. Congratulations to the owners and chef!

This is a wonderful spot for those who enjoy a fine dining atmosphere with creative cuisine, spot on service and a lovely decor.

Advice- the five course option is not too much for the average person. I would assume 3 courses would be a very light dinner.

It’s byob and they do a wonderful job with wine preparation (decanters, proper glassware, wine buckets etc). So bring the good stuff

Highlights- everyone from front of house was excellent. All three front of house employees seemed truly dedicated in making sure we were enjoying ourselves. The highlight of the experience was the hostess and both servers.

The chef makes beautiful plates. You can tell a lot of effort goes into the design and look of each dish. I love the variety of plates.

(Spoiler alter)- I love when there are complementary appetizers to start (AB). And not because of more volume, but the effort that goes into the show and the little things. Fantastic touch.

The server saw my wife was pregnant and offered her a veritable course that was amazing and just a thoughtful as the carpaccio. Very thoughtful.

All the appetizers were excellent. I think the mushroom tart ate differently than how I perceived it ready the description but no complaints.

We both got the steak and it was prepared perfectly. The char they achieved was very impressive.

It’s a beautiful restaurant with parking and a wonderful overall decor.

Suggestions- really very little but… espresso was very weak in flavor and seemed watered down ( it may have been because I ordered a double?). The potato served with the steak wasn’t fully cooked. The chocolate dessert was beautiful but honestly dry and a little simple.

Thank you for a wonderful experience. We will be back with friends.

The food was incredible. I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect when they brought out the dishes, they looked beautiful and tasted even better. Really well done. The menu changes every couple months so keep that in mind. The building is also really cool, old historic building that’s been refurbished with a lot of the original materials.

Lovely BYOB lunch in North Cape May. Styling, service and food exceeded expectations. Very easy to get to from any of the shore points and has plenty of parking.
